Preface:

You must be Properly Licensed to use Ham or GMRS Frequencies and Repeaters. The OARC operates and maintains four repeaters and a Packet Digipeater. Three repeaters (147.27, 462.650 GMRS-19 and 442.125) are wide area machines and one that is local to Slidell, LA (462.725 MHz GMRS-22). The Packet Digipeater has a large coverage area and its frequency is 145.010 MHz. There is a two-meter net which meets every Friday at 7:30 p.m. on 147.27 and it is a directed net. The OZONE CLUB sponsors our ten-meter net found on 28.425 MHz USB at 8:00 p.m. In addition, the ARES net is called every Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. local time.

If a repeater goes down for any reason, users are asked to use the repeaters output frequency in simplex mode until repeater operation is restored without any offset or TX or RX tone.  Again, we only use this when the repeater is off the air.  Please never operate on a repeater frequency in a simplex mode when the repeater is on the air and working properly.

August 28th, 2022 Update: Added the new club sponsored GMRS repeater details.

  • 147.270
  • [DMR]
    1. Brandmeister DMR enabled. The enabled “static TG’s” are currently set to 3122 (Louisiana State), 31220 (LA Chat) and 31225 (Southeast LA). All preset TG’s are set to slot 2. Both slots are enabled on the repeater.
    2. You can use any TG/slot as a “dynamic TG” by having a TG programmed into your DNR radio. If you are talking locally please use TG 9 or 2.
    3. Please note that Analog FM (with pl 114.8) always has priority and once keyed will stop DMR and invoke a 20 sec time delay before a DMR signal will be recognized again. Please don’t purposely abuse this time delay to stop or interfere with local DMR conversations.
    4. For more info on Brandmeister Connected Repeaters see: https://amateurradionotes.com/auto-static.htm

    2. You can “link” to any room by using to Wires-X function and follow the menu you receive.
    3. If you switch rooms the repeater will automatically switch back to DWARN after 20 minutes of no local use.
    4. Please note that Analog FM (with pl 114.8) works on fusion for local communications but will not go through DWARN.

November 23rd, 2024 Update: New GMRS repeater was installed at Lacombe, LA on Channel 19 which replaced the 444.100 repeater. D-STAR was moved over to the 147.27.

May 6, 2022 Update: The antenna/cable damage caused by Hurricane Ida has been repaired

  • The antenna mast for the UHF repeater was straightened from 30 degrees vertical back to 90 degrees and all jumper cables replaced. The UHF antenna is omni-directional (Model DB-420A) and is located on the north side of the top candelabra./li>
  • The VHF antenna was replaced with a new Comprod Antenna (Model 874F-70TM-1/2 wave) and all new jumper lines . The VHF antenna is located at the top of the tower on a tower leg and has its highest gain lobes pointed east and west. See attached picture of our antennas.
  • Unfortunately we were not able to resurrect our WiFi link; therefore the Digital Mode information you see below on the repeaters has not been activated. We are currently investigating other methods to get internet to the site and will update our repeater page when digital services are back in operation.
